$130,000 spent on lead at C.R. Anderson

Testing for and abating lead contamination in C.R. Anderson Middle School cost the Helena district nearly $130,000, project invoices show. The district paid $50,731 to ALM Consulting for tests conducted throughout the school and will pay $76,119 to Abatement Contractors of Montana, LLC for abatement work. It paid another $1,780 to other contractors, for a total of $128,630.C.R. Anderson was closed for a week in January after initial lead samples taken in basement classrooms indicated levels many times above what is acceptable. The basement once housed an indoor shooting range.
